The Story
Joseph Mount started Metronomy ten years ago in his bedroom as a "creative hobby," but when the taste-making Erol Alkan began playing out "You Could Easily Have Me," he saw the "commercial possibilities" of the electro-pop effort. 2 albums later, Metronomy has developed into a fully live outfit, and it brings us The English Riviera, a 11-track full-length featuring pristine synth pop sounds, on Because Music. Check out the bouncy and fun "The Look," or the laid back, slow rock stylings of "We Broke Free." "Love Underlined" is uptempo but maintains the delicate poise prevalent throughout the album. Other picks include "Corinne," "The Bay," and "She Wants." Recommended.
