Sounds Familiar is a Italy-based collective dedicated to good music. For this stellar compilation, the crew collaborates with Salsoul Records, and various gems from the legendary NYC label's archives are touched up by names you can trust: DJ Spinna, Mark Grusane, Specter, Ge-Ology, Kai Alce (US roster), Volcov & Twice. The reworks remain respectful to the originals but tweaks are made to update the tracks for the modern dancefloor. Check out the raw, dusty edit of "Salsoul Rainbow" by Kai Alce NDATL, or Spinna's ReFreak of "Chicago Bus Stop (Ooh, I Love It)." GE-OLOGY contributes a killer cover of Candido's "Thousand Finger Man," and Mark Grusane tastefully rearranges a Civil Attack burner, "On The Phone." A no brainer for working DJs!
