The Story
Malcolm Martin aka Thelonious Martin hails from Chicago, and he’s produced tracks for Vic Mensa, Chance The Rapper (the three make the Chi-town collective SAVE MONEY), Action Bronson, Joey Badass, Odd Future rappers, A$AP Rocky, and more. For this 10-track LP, the producer, who cites J Dilla, Madlib, Flying Lotus, Alchemist, Pete Rock, MF DOOM, and Just Blaze as influences , combines his love of late-night television with soul/jazz samples and snappy drums; Dave Chappelle, Adult Swim, and infomercial snippets are “meticulously pieced together” with gems from Martin’s crates, and Late Night Programming runs like a classic tape from some of his aforesaid heroes.
